BROU / COUTON
Collectors of stories and songs and occasional cooks, singer Roland BROU and guitarist Patrick COUTON have earned a solid reputation as historians of Brittany’s oral tradition. They reinvent this tradition with new music and new interpretations. Whether as a duo or as part of groups such as ROQUIO and LE GRAND CARAQUIN, they evoke in their songs facts, anecdotes, and situations that reflect social and even culinary realities!
Twelve years after the album Complaintes et Chansons, they have recorded a new album, this time entirely devoted to songs from Nantes. What could be more natural from two natives of the city? So don’t think of Nantes only as a city of prisons, and forget the recent national controversy over an old airport project that went off the rails. Instead, listen to BROU and COUTON as they tell the tale of Nantes (An Naoned) through stories from long ago or just yesterday.
Here is Nantes through its port, its sailors, its ships, its slave traders, its legendary king, its murderers, its pork sausage (!)… Whether you stay on the dock or board the ship, there’s always a story from Nantes to shed new light on memory. BROU and COUTON have found the words, set them to music and even to images! For RYTHMES CROISÉS, Roland BROU tells us more. Follow the guide…

Bléjean Brothers & Nicolas Quemener
Loïc Bléjean and his brother Ronan have been key figures in Irish music for over thirty years. Essential musicians on the Breton scene and members of many bands, it is as a duo that they fully express the energy and emotion of a music they learned in Ireland, alongside some of its greatest artists. They are now among the few French musicians regularly invited to perform and teach master classes in Ireland.
The Bléjean brothers perform live as a trio with their longtime friend, the legendary Nicolas Quémener (guitar, vocals), who has played with some of the most renowned Irish groups for decades. Their music, deeply rooted in tradition, shines with energy and the space they give to improvisation.
